Stranded? Not with MedjetAssist!
 Imagine
you are on business in South America when a rumble in your stomach quickly turns
into a serious illness and you have to trade your comfortable hotel room for
a hospital bed. The doctors and nurses speak very little English, insurance
isn't covering hotel and food expenses and worst of all, you are miles away
from your family.
You are stranded! Or maybe not...
If you are a MedjetAssist member you can travel with
peace of mind, knowing that home will never seem that far
away. Reach into your pocket and pull out the MedjetAssist
membership card that you received before you left home, call
toll-free and MedjetAssist will take it from there.
MedjetAssist
Evacuation and Repatriation Service
In addition to repatriation and evacuation services, MedjetAssist offers a variety of additional services to its
members, including transport service to specialty hospitals,
medical consultation, passport replacement, organ recipient
transport, and more.
Why MedjetAssist
A MedjetAssist membership makes sense for just about any traveler. Whether you
are planning a short family trip or a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Europe, your
MedjetAssist membership may be the most valuable thing you take with you.
Consider this:
- According to the Travel Industry Association of America,
Americans will take 1.2 billion trips in the United States
in excess of 100 miles in 1998 -- a 4.8 percent increase
compared to 1997.
- The Sixteenth Edition of The Merck Manual (Copyright
© 1992 by Merck & Co., Inc.) reports one in 30 of
all international travelers will require emergency care.
- According to the most recent data from the National
Center for Health Statistics -- 30,545,000 Americans
were hospitalized in 1996, with an average length of stay
of 5.2 days.
MedjetAssist is not travel insurance.
Standard travel insurance is multi-benefit coverage for lost
baggage, canceled tickets, and lost passports. When there
is a medical transport, the benefit is almost always limited
to the "nearest adequate facility" and to a dollar amount
(typically $10,000). Universally, this coverage cannot be
activated without a determination of "medical necessity" -
that's when a case manager must determine if the care provided
in a particular location is inadequate.
MedjetAssist membership requires no medical necessity,
carries no dollar limit, and the member determines the ultimate
hospital destination. In addition, travel insurance requires
various cutoff dates prior to actual travel, in order to enroll
without regard to pre-existing conditions. MedjetAssist
does not ask medical questions for enrollment.
